Troubleshooting

Resolve common scanning, inventory, invitation, and receiving problems.

The camera scanner does not open

  • Allow camera access when the browser asks.
  • Check the site’s camera permission in your browser settings if permission was previously denied.
  • On mobile, try the rear camera and make sure no other app is using it.
  • Enter the barcode or part number manually if camera access is unavailable.

A part cannot be assigned

  • Confirm the selected warehouse has enough available, unreserved stock.
  • Confirm the technician is Active.
  • For Job Part, enter a Job ID.
  • Reduce the quantity so it does not exceed the available amount.

A purchase-order line cannot be received

  • The receive quantity must be a whole number and cannot exceed the remaining quantity.
  • Choose a warehouse before submitting.
  • If the destination is Technician, choose an active technician unless the Job ID already determines one.
  • A line that is cancelled or fully received has nothing left to receive.
  • A Job ID is locked after receiving begins for that line.

An invitation email did not arrive

  1. 1Confirm the email address in the pending invitation.
  2. 2Ask the recipient to check spam or junk folders.
  3. 3Copy the invitation link from PorterBase when that option is shown and send it directly.
  4. 4Cancel the incorrect invitation and create a new one if the address is wrong.

Inventory looks incorrect

  1. 1Open the part and review Transactions before making another adjustment.
  2. 2Check each warehouse and location, plus assigned technician quantities.
  3. 3Look for reservations still marked Ready for Pickup.
  4. 4Use Undo Used, Return to Warehouse, transfer, or another matching lifecycle action to correct the source event.

Avoid adding offsetting stock unless a real stock event occurred. Correcting the lifecycle action keeps reports and accountability accurate.
